Teen Book Fest 2012

This entry was submitted by Courtney Saldana from the Ovitt Family Community Library in Ontario.

May 5th 2012 marked our second annual Teen Book Fest here at the Ovitt Family Community Library in Ontario, CA.  We welcomed a diverse panel of four authors this year including bestselling author of 13 Reasons Why, Jay Asher.  Also appearing were Josephine Angelini, author of Starcrossed and Dreamless; Anna Carey, author of Eve and the upcoming sequel Once  and Alexandra Monir, debut author of Timeless.

Teen Book Fest 2012 kicked off with each author reading a bit from their latest novel.  Jay and Alexandra teamed up to read the parts of Clay and Hannah from 13 Reasons Why.  Questions from the audience ranged from how the authors were published, to what the inspirations for their novels were.  Attendees included teenagers from Ontario and neighboring communities, students from Mt. Sac College, teachers, librarians and more.  Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop was on hand to sell books and the authors signed for 60 minutes after the event.  Teen Book Fest 2012 was supported by the Ontario City Library, Friends of the Ontario City Library, Ayres Hotel and Suites and Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop.

Teen Book Fest 2012 saw more attendees than 2011, and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for 2013.  See you next year!
